Clara Lietzow, 88

Thief River Falls - Clara E. Lietzow, 88, died on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at Valley Home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Lietzow, Clara Saturday, January 11 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Dennis Raymond officiating. Ida Nordvall was the organist and Diane Johnson was the soloist. Casketbearers were Ed Lietzow, Ron Lietzow, Erling Thompson, John Seaverson, Jim Thompson, J.D. Seaverson and Marc Seaverson. Honorary casketbearers were Lori Witt, John Thompson, Greg Ellingson, Joby Thompson, Jason Thompson, Chance Witt and all her friends at Valley Home and Riverside Terrace. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Clara Emma Pfeifer was born on April 8, 1914, the daughter of Phillip and Mary (Huber) Pfeifer in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended Haultain School.

On November 5, 1940, Clara was united in marriage to Walter E. Lietzow in Haultain, Saskatchewan. The couple farmed in Canada until 1952, when they moved to Thief River Falls and settled on a farm in Numedal Township of Pennington
County. The couple farmed until Walter's death in 1966. Clara was employed by the Fountain Café in Thief River Falls for several years.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. She enjoyed the Zion Quilting Circle, reading, walking and family activities. She resided at Valley Home.

Survivors include her daughters, Marian Ellingson of Minneapolis, Clare (Erling) Thompson of Mesa, Ariz. and Lorraine (John) Seaverson of Thief River Falls; sons, Ed (Sharon) of LaCrosse, Wisc. and Ron (Marlys) of Sioux Falls, S.D.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Campbell of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and several other relatives in Canada.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her parents; a sister; 12 brothers; and a great-granddaughter. A00003B2002JA15
