I. Lian, 77
Thief
River Falls - Armond Lian, 77, died Monday,
February 5, 2001 at the CNC unit of Northwest
Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Memorial
services were held at
11
a.m. on Thursday, February 8, at Green Funeral Home
Chapel in Thief River Falls with Rev. Gary Johnson
officiating. Burial will be in the spring in St.
Pauli Cemetery, rural Thief River Falls.
Armond
I. Lian was born on January 28, 1924 near Thief
River Falls, the son of Ole and Hildur (Gustafson)
Lian. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Pauli
Lutheran Church near Hazel and attended Engelstad
School and Cheerville School in Rocksbury
township.
On
February 6, 1945, Armond was united in marriage to
Beverly Netteland at Thief River Falls. The couple
lived in various places in and around Thief River
Falls until 1966 when they moved to Bloomington. In
1973, they moved to Mound. They also lived near the
first hole of the golf course in Nisswa. The couple
wintered in Florida and spend summers in Minnesota
until 1999 when they moved to Thief River
Falls.
Armond's
employment included farming for five years, driving
from coast to coast for Wedul Truck Lines of Thief
River Falls, working for Schermer Gas Transport and
as manager of a service station in
Wayzata.
He
enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing and taking an
annual fishing trip to Minaki, Ontario, Canada with
his son and sons-in-law.
Armond
is survived by his wife, Beverly of Thief River
Falls; a son, Jerry (Wyona) Lian of Tampa, Fla.;
five daughters, Dianne (Jim) Matson of Thief River
Falls, Linda (Ron) Olson of Pine River, Rosemary
(Stan) Stange of New Mexico, Susan (Ron) Michael of
Oakdale, and Nancy (Jeff) Brett of Bloomington; 16
grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; a brother,
Omer Lian; a niece; and four nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents.
