Carl Lehrer, 92

Red Lake Falls - Carl Lehrer, 92, died on Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 7 at St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls with Rev. Jeffrey Lytle officiating. Casey Klipping was the organist and Mike Lehrer was the soloist. Casketbearers were Cal Harmoning, Marv Kading, Brian Kading, Mike Seeger, Vernon Erdman and Todd Wieland. Interment was in Immanuel Cemetery in Wylie.

Carl Lehrer was born on March 3, 1910, the son of Fred and Augusta (Gerlach) Lehrer in Thief River Falls. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wylie. He grew up, attended country school and graduated from Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls in 1927.

On June 6, 1939, Carl married Helena Erdman. The couple made their home in Wylie, where he was a dairy farmer and managed the Wylie Elevator. In 1943, he bought the farm in Red Lake Falls Township, where he had since resided. He drove school bus in Red Lake Falls for a few years, also. Carl held office on the St. John Church Council, the Red Lake Falls School Board and belonged to the Men's Club at St. John. He enjoyed fishing and watching the Minnesota Twins.

Survivors include five children, Carol (Jay) Borchert of Pinewood, Rev. Wayne (Lois) Lehrer of Falls Church, Va., Sharon (Robert) Wuggazer of Omaha, Neb., Joel (Sue) Lehrer of Red Lake Falls and Terry (Wendy) Lehrer of Thief River Falls; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Hugo (Mary) Lehrer of Spartanburg, S.C.

Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Helena, and his parents.
