River Falls - Louis Nelson LeDoux, 84, Thief
River Falls died in his sleep on Thursday, May 20,
2004 at his apartment.
Funeral
Services will be held at
2
p.m. on Wednesday, May 26 (today) at Assembly of
God Church in Karlstad, with Rev. Rick Wadhalm
officiating. Casket bearers included Richard
Thompson, Robert Thompson, Andrew Thompson, Jim
Wollin, Lyle Jacobson and Roy Anderson. Interment
will follow in Karlstad Cemetery.
Visitation
will be held for one hour prior to the funeral on
Wednesday.
Nelson
was born in Caribou, September 29, 1919 to Alfred
and Mary (Kareskevich) LeDoux. In 1928, the family
moved to Karlstad, where Nelson attended the
Karlstad Public School.
Nelson
spent some time working in Chicago, Ill., Houston,
Texas, Tioga, N.D. and Longview, Wash., then
returned to Karlstad and continued to farm and
maintain a herd of cattle. After his dad died in
1955, he settled his mother in Karlstad,
discontinued his cattle and farming operation and
went to work for Arctic Enterprises in Thief River
Falls. He moved to his LaBree Ave. north apartment
in the fall of 1969.
He
worked for First Federal in Thief River Falls,
taking care of houses owned by them. These last
number of years, he has been caretaker of a number
of apartments owned by Dr. John and Lorraine
Severson.
Nelson
was a very kind, caring person, always willing to
help anyone and everyone he could.
He
is survived by sisters, Anne (John) Hendrickson of
Menahga; Polly Stevenson of Bellflower, Calif.;
Florence Strom of Titusville, Fla. and Betsy
(Isaac) Thompson of Strandquist; sisters-in-law,
Marj Simchuck of Corcoran, Maxine LeDoux of
Ashford, Wash. and Alice Simchuck of Houston,
Texas.
He
was preceded in death by parents; seven brothers,
Frank, Walter, George, and Billy LeDoux, Bill, John
and Peter Simchuck; and two sisters, Bertha and
