Metaline
Falls - "Swede" Larry Laverne Lease, 54, died
at his home in Metaline Falls on March 9, 2004
following a long illness.
Swede
was born in Crookston on October 17, 1949. He was
one of 12 children born to Henry and Blenda
(Lundeen) Lease. During Vietnam he served in the
U.S. Army and received a purple heart with an
honorable discharge.
Larry
worked in Alaska and many areas in the western
states as a heavy equipment operator in
construction. He enjoyed his work.
After
moving from Goodridge to Metaline Falls in April of
1997, he raised cows, pigs, goats and chickens. He
traveled much of the area, trading and buying
animals. He enjoyed his animals and took much joy
in caring for them until poor health forced him to
sell them.
Survivors
include ten brothers and sisters, Karen Lease of
Australia, Margaret Lease of Maine, Diane Lease of
Texas, Mary (Stanley) Johnson, Ken (Pauline),
Robert (Estelle), Roger and Joyce (Bud) Holt, all
of Minnesota, David (Vernice) of Wisconsin and
Darrel (Beverly) of Colorado; his companion, Debbie
Harris; and his pets.
He
was preceded in death by his parents and a brother,
Richard.
