Emeline Langowski, 83

Grafton, N.D. - Emeline Langowski, 83, died Friday, December 7, 2001 at Unity Hospital in Grafton, N.D.

Mass of Christian burial was held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 10, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Grafton with Father Michael Parrotta officiating. Casketbearers were grandsons Curtis Askim, Ryan Askim, Matthew Mattson, Jeremy Chapman, Joshua Langowski, Erick Rhen, Zachary Quinn, Michael Langowski, Todd Langowski and Eric Sturdivant. Honorary casketbearers were Eric Bryn, Joe Praska, David Langowski, Jim Langowski, Joe Langowski, Brandon Langow-ski, Scott Meyer, Shane Meyer and Cory Burns. Interment was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery with Henriksen-Kamrowski Funeral Home of Grafton in charge of the arrangements.

Emeline Marie Kadlec was born on February 8, 1918 at Pisek, N.D., the daughter of Frank J. and Mary (Hodny) Kadlec. She grew up in Pisek where she attended school and graduated from high school in 1934. She then attended one year of college at St. Joseph.

On September 10, 1940, Emeline married Joseph Langowski at Pisek. The couple lived at Pisek and then in Minot, N.D. for a year. Emeline returned to Pisek while her husband served in the military during World War II. Following Joseph's discharge, the couple moved to Grafton in February of 1947 where they had since resided. Emeline worked at St. Joseph's Hospital for six months, at Stan's Cafe for two years and then as an attendant at the Grafton State School for nine years.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, the Altar Society and the DAV Auxiliary in Grafton.

Emeline enjoyed cooking, embroidery, crocheting, reading, playing the violin and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph of Grafton; six sons, John of Grafton, Joe "Sonny" (Janet) Langowski of Orting, Wash., Odo (Chris) Langowski of Reno, Nev., Gontran "Buster" (Connie) Langowski of Hazen, N.D., Lester Langowski of Grafton and Mark Langowski of Santa Rosa, Calif.; seven daughters, Vicky (Jim) Brun of Reno, Nev., Ora (Henry) Meyer of Pacific, Wash., Jeanne (Frank) Quinn of Santa Rosa, Calif., Mary (Wally) Sturdivant of Akron, Ohio, Sylvia (Maurel) Mattson of West Fargo, N.D. Veronica (Arlyn) Askim of Lankin, N.D. and Georgia (Shawn) Rhen of Thief River Falls; a son-in-law, Raymond Praska of Seattle, Wash.; a brother, Ludger (Elaine) Kadlec of Pisek, N.D.; 36 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Emeline was preceded in death by her daughter, Innocentia "Inny" Praska; her parents; a sister, Louise Greicar; and four brothers, Edmund, Louis, Stanley and Frank Kadlec. A00003B2001DC12
