Emma Langness, 90

Twin Falls, Idaho - Emma Langness, 90, formerly of Grygla, died Wednesday, December 12, 2001 at Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Langness Obit Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Mon-day, December 17, at Green Funeral Home Chapel in Thief River Falls with Rev. Terry Olson officiating. Stephanie Skogland was the organist, and a piano solo was presented by Emily Harris. Bill Harris read a poem. Casketbearers were Bill Harris, Duane Langness, Gerald Langness, Gordy Langness, Chris Langness and Kelly Langness. Interment was in Bethesda Cemetery at rural Grygla.

Emma Nygard was born on April 9, 1911 in Edinburg, N.D., the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Thorson) Nygard. She graduated from a two-year course in home economics at Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River, N.D. She worked as a pastry cook at Pure Food Cafe in Fargo.

In a double wedding with her younger sister, Emma was united in marriage to Harvey Langness of Grygla on June 29, 1941 at rural Edinburg, N.D. Harvey died on December 26, 1996.

She enjoyed playing the piano and singing duets with her sister, cooking, baking breads and pies, gardening, picking blueberries, knitting, reading and especially, spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Emma is survived by a daughter, Jayne (Bill) Harris of Idaho; three sons, Duane (Kathy) of Thief River Falls, Gerald of Grygla and Gordy of Brainerd; four grandchildren; a sister, Alice Rustan of Park River, N.D.; two brothers, Lloyd Nygard of Minot, N.D. and Clifford Nygard of Bismarck, N.D.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three sisters, Lily, Calma and Agnes; and four brothers, Amund, Ingvald, Alf and Johnny. A00003B2001DC19
