Bergliot Langlie, 90
Thief
River Falls - A. Bergliot Langlie, 90, died on
Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at Northwest Medical
Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral
services were held on Friday, April 4 at Trinity
Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with the Rev.
John Wollenzien officiating. Ida Nordvall was the
organist and Katherine Pehrson was the soloist.
Interment was in Emardville Cemetery in
Plummer.
Anna
"Bergie" Langlie was born on March 15, 1913, the
daughter of Olaf and Bergit (Hemmestveit) Langlie,
in Plummer. She was baptized and confirmed in
Plummer and graduated from Pershing High School.
She attended Bemidji State Teachers College, where
she earned a teaching certificate. She also
graduated from San Diego State University, where
she earned a bachelor of science degree. She taught
school in Badger, McIntosh and San Diego, Calif.
During World War II, Bergie went to work in an
aircraft factory in San Diego. She lived in San
Diego for over 50 years. After the war, she resumed
her teaching career and taught first grade until
her retirement.
Bergie's
passions included her Lutheran and Norwegian
heritage, travel and walking. She traveled to Asia,
Africa, Australia, the Arctic Circle and throughout
North America. In 1998, she moved to Thief River
Falls to be closer to her family.
Survivors
include brothers, Tuss (Verna) of St. Augustine,
Fla., Ed (Ardith) of Thief River Falls, and Gordon
of Roseau; and many nieces and nephews.
She was
preceded in death by her sister, Thelma Bjorkman;
an infant brother, Alfred; and a
sister-in-law.
