Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17 (today) at Oak Ridge Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Luther Peterson officiating. Casket bearers include grandsons, Jeff Lane, Mike Lane, Sam Lane, Chris Lane, Charlie Panek and Ryan Lane. Interment will be at Lanstad Cemetery in Sanders Township of Pennington County.

Genevieve Ione Peterson was born July 10, 1929 in Grand Forks, N.D., the daughter of Ludvig P. and Myrtle L. (Jahr) Peterson. The family moved to Sanders Township in rural Thief River Falls in 1934.

On June 9, 1947, Genevieve was united in marriage to Burton Lane in Thief River Falls. The couple lived and farmed in the Thief River Falls area until 1951, when they moved to California. In 1953, they returned to Thief River Falls.

Genevieve worked at the Palm Gardens, Vraa's 8th St. Grocery, Arctic Enterprises, Heritage Senior Center and Tri Valley Opportunity Council. She enjoyed making lefse, donuts and quilting.

She held membership at Oak Ridge Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary, Cooties and was active in the church ladies aid.

Survivors include daughters, Vicki Brown and Laurie (Larry) Panek, all of Thief River Falls; sons, "Gubby," Gary and Stanely (Lynette) Lane, all of Thief River Falls; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Olive Weflen of Gresham, Ore., and Arlene Pearson of Ellsworth, Wis.; brothers, Byron (Anita) Peterson of Rockford, Ill., and Lester (Josephine) Peterson of Machesney Park, Ill.; and special friend Douglas Syverson.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Mary Denise Lane; an infant daughter, Eileen Frances Lane; one granddaughter; and her parents.
