Thief
River Falls - Helga Lambert, 91, formerly of
Oklee, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at Northwest
Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral
services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 21,
at Zion Lutheran Church in Oklee with Rev. Robert
Paulson officiating. Marion Marquis was the
organist, and a duet was presented by Eric and
Patty Mickelson. Casketbearers were Howard Person,
Larry Voeltz, Jeff Spencer, Steve Loiland, Michael
Person and David Person. Interment was in Greenwood
Cemetery in Thief River Falls with Johnson Funeral
Service of Oklee in charge of the
arrangements.
Helga
Loiland was born on July 20, 1910 at rural Trail,
the daughter of Nels and Kari (Gunderson) Loiland.
She graduated from Bemidji State College in 1928
and taught at rural schools near Trail and
Oklee.
On
August 26, 1936, Helga was united in marriage to
Omer Lambert. The couple farmed in the Oklee area
until 1959 when they moved into Oklee. In 1964,
they moved to McCleary, Wash., and Helga taught at
Elma, Wash. for several years. In 1969, they moved
to Thief River Falls. After Omer's death in 1977,
Helga moved to Oklee, residing their until 1996
when she moved to Valley Home in Thief River
Falls.
Survivors
include a nephew, several nieces, and numerous
grand nieces and grand nephews.
Helga
was preceded in death by her husband; a sister,
Lena Spencer; and five brothers, Ole Loiland, Louie
Loiland, Jorgen Loiland, Theodore Loiland and
