Mahnomen
- Janet Kveno, 90, died on Tuesday, August 12,
2003 at the Mahnomen Health Center in
Mahnomen.
Funeral
services were held on Saturday, August 16 at Ness
Lutheran Church of rural Gary with the Rev. H.
William Beyer officiating. Casketbearers were Jeff
Nelson, Becky Olson, Seth Kveno, Sara Kveno,
Samantha Kveno and Sean Kveno. Interment was in
Ness Lutheran Church, rural Gary.
Janet
Trontvet was born on September 18, 1912 in Star
Township of Pennington County, the daughter of Olaf
"Ole" and Gunda (Rensla) Trontvet. She was baptized
in confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Ecklund
Lutheran Church near Goodridge. She attended the
Cloverleaf Country School of rural Goodridge and
Bible School in Grand Forks, N.D., and Fergus
Falls. As a young woman, Janet taught parochial
school in Goodridge, Swift and Halstad. She also
worked as a domestic housekeeper for several
families in Thief River Falls.
On
November 9, 1941, Janet was united in marriage to
Orville Kveno in a double wedding ceremony with her
brother, Norris and Dorothy Trontvet in Goodridge.
Janet enjoyed baking and cooking, sewing,
crocheting, reading, flowers, music and traveling.
She and Orville farmed in Bear Park Township from
1941 until 1975. They moved to Santa Barbara,
Calif., in 1975, where they were caregivers for
Orville's aunt. They continued to live in Santa
Barbara until the present, spending summers and
holidays in Minnesota. Janet was a member of Ness
Lutheran Church of rural Gary, where she was active
in the women's organizations and was a Sunday
School teachers and superintendent for many
years.
Survivors
include her husband, Orville of Mahnomen and Santa
Barbara, Calif.; children, Janice (Larry) Nelson of
Luverne, Mary (Paul) Hoppestad of Mahnomen and
Harry (Kim) Kveno of Gary; one brother, Orville
(Bobbie) Trontvet of Grand Forks, N.D.; six
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a
sister-in-law, Dorothy Trontvet of Thief River
Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
Janet
was preceded in death by her parents; three
brothers, Norris, Gilbert and Orvin; and sisters,
