Thief River Falls - Charles Kruse, 80, died
Thursday, October 16, 2003 at his home in Thief
River Falls. Funeral services were held at on
Saturday,
Oct.
18, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Thief River
Falls with Father Tim McGee presiding and Deacon
John Eisbrener. Interment was at St. Bernard's
Cemetery, Thief River Falls.
Charles
Philip Kruse was born July 5, 1923 at Red Lake
Falls, the son of Charles J. and Margaret (Wieland)
Kruse. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's
Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls. He grew up and
attended school in Red Lake Falls, graduating from
Lafayette High School in 1941.
Charles
worked at various construction jobs in the area. He
also worked construction in Montana for a year. In
the late 1950's Charles moved to Thief River Falls,
where he worked for the Street and Sanitation
Department for a time. He then started his own
business as a general painting contractor, which he
did for over 20 years, retiring in 1987.
Charles
was a handyman and enjoyed working on cars and
motorcycles. He was a member of St. Bernard's
Catholic Church.
Survivors
include 11 nieces and nephews and sister-in-law
Rachel Kruse of Red Lake Falls. Other relatives
include grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters,
Betty (Archie) Johnson, Helene (William) Ranum,
Marie (Frank) Sherack, and a brother Frank .
