David Kringsberg, 85

Thief River Falls - David Kringsberg, 85, died on Monday, December 30, 2002 at his home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Friday, January 3, 2003 at the Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls with Rev. Jim Howard officiating. Ida Nordvall was the organist and Vanessa Anderson was the soloist. Casketbearers were Chet Aubol, Don Barren, Floyd Johnson and Vern Dokkin. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Warren with military honors accorded by the American Legion Ecklund-Holmstrom Post #117 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2793.

David Henry Kringsberg was born on August 5, 1917, the son of Carl and Othilia Kringsberg in Thief River Falls. He grew up in Thief River Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1935. He moved to Fargo, N.D. for two years and later, moved to Minneapolis, where he attended the University of Minnesota. He entered the United States Army on June 28, 1941 at Fort Snelling and served in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. During his service, he received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. David was honorably discharged at Camp San Luis Obispo, Calif. on October 9, 1945. Upon his discharge, he lived in Minneapolis and worked for Gamble-Skogmo. In 1978, he moved back to Thief River Falls.

David was a member of the Eagles and Elks, both in Thief River Falls and Minneapolis. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2793 of Thief River Falls.

Survivors include several friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Olga O. Johnson; and an uncle.
