Cora Kowalski, 90

Chisago City - Cora Kowalski, 90, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001 at Margaret Palmer Nursing Home in Chisago City.

Services were held Monday, June 11, at Margaret Palmer Nursing Home with Rev. Ron Gerl, chaplain, presiding. Ladonna Lindblom was the organist, and several of Cora's children presented readings about her life.

Cora was born on December 12, 1910 in Thief River Falls. Her father was a country school superintendent for several years. Cora worked for her aunt in Deadwood, S.D. where she attended high school and nurses training. She was employed as a head surgical nurse at Mercy Hospital for several years. Cora worked for public health services in Grand Forks, N.D. prior to marrying Dick Kowalski and moving to Grafton, N.D. where she worked as a county school nurse until she was 73 years old.

After her husband's death in 1993, Cora moved to Burnsville. She later moved to Margaret Palmer Nursing Home.

Survivors include two daughters, Annetta Leigh and Alisia (Robert) Iwabucki; three sons, Richard (Christine) Kowalski, Robert (Tamara) Kowalski and George (Diane) Kowalski; two brothers, George Gunderson and Vernon (Shirley) Gunderson; five sisters, Tilda Gunderson, Madeline Botz, Audrey Schaan, Verna (Darrell) Bullinger, Dorothy (Joe) Sagaser; three sisters-in-law; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four brothers, Gustave, Arnold, Milton and Clifford; two sisters, Alda Erickson and Gladys Gunderson; four brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.
