Koskela, 84
Plummer
- Carl Koskela, 84, died on Thursday, February
6, 2003 at his home in rural Plummer.
Funeral
services were held on Saturday, February 9 at
Immanuel
Lutheran
Church in Plummer with the Rev. Frank Ehling
officiating. Linda Olson was the organist.
Casketbearers were Edward Eskeli, Ferd Dehate, Jim
DuChamp, Brent Hemly, Arlan Koskela, Dean Koskela,
Byron Rosten and Ole Tvedt. Interment was in the
Finnish Cemetery in Emardville Township of Red Lake
County.
Carl
M. Koskela was born on June 25, 1918, the son of
Gustof (Ed) and Hilja (Kaan) Koskela in Plummer. He
was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith
and attended country school northeast of
Plummer.
On
May 24, 1947, he married Eunice Nerva in Plummer.
The couple farmed on the Koskela Homestead in
Emardville Township until Carl retired. He also
worked a couple of years at the sugar beet plant in
Crookston and contracted baling flax straw. Carl
enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He liked to play cards, deer hunting, trapping,
skiing on the trap line and fishing in the
Clearwater River, which ran through his farm. He
loved feeding deer grain in the winter and they ate
from his garden in the summer.
Survivors
include his wife, Eunice of Plummer; one daughter,
Kathleen (Darol) Brasgalla of Bismarck, N.D.; and
two grandchildren.
Carl
was preceded in death by his parents; one brother,
William; and one sister, Lillian Wahl.
