N.H. Kortuem, 77

Ocala, Fla. - N.H. "Red" Kortuem, 77, died on Monday, November 18, 2002 at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Fla. NH Kortuem

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Our Lady of the Springs Church in Ocala, Fla. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice or the American Heart Association. Memorial services will also be held in Pelican Rapids next June.

Red was born on August 6, 1925, the son of Mike and Veronica Kortuem in St. Cloud. He graduated from high school in Pelican Rapids and went on to attend Dakota College, Moorhead State University and graduated from the Wisconsin School of Banking as president of his class. He ran banks in South Dakota, Minnesota and Illinois. He retired from the Bank of Waukegan, Ill. in 1978. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Red was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus - 4th degree, a member of the Lions Club, American Legion, the Elks, the American Banking Association and served on the board of directors of the Catholic Charities for the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; two children, Kristy (Earl) Dryden of Canon City, Colo. and Kelly Kortuem of Fargo, N.D.; two grandchildren; and a sister, Dorine Pauley of Cold Springs.

Red was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters. A00003B2002NV27
