James Koropatnicki, 61

Thief River Falls - James Koropatnicki, 61, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003 at his home in Thief River Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Koropatnicki, Jim photo Saturday, Nov. 8, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, with Monsignor Roger Grundhaus officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, 2003 at the Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls, with a 7 p.m. Prayer Service on Friday evening and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Casket bearers include John Hammer, Lynn Hammer, Marv Olson, Bill Grundhaus, Keith Nelson and Dennis Nelson. Interment will be in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

James "Jim" Edward Koropatnicki was born Aug. 21, 1942 in Leroy, N.D., the son of Nick and Cecelia (Doyle) Koropatnicki. He was baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Leroy, N.D. and confirmed at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. He attended school in Leroy, until moving to Thief River Falls at the age of 12. Jim attended Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls. Following high school he moved to California for one year before moving to Minneapolis, where he lived for five years.

Jim was united in marriage to Phyllis Irene Olson on Aug. 3, 1963 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. In 1966 he began employment with UPS in Thief River Falls. In the late 1970's Jim became self employed in farming and had his own trucking business. He retired from trucking in 1998 and continued to farm. Jim was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dale of Tempe, Ariz. and Dean of Cottonwood Ariz.; one brother, Ted (Darlene) of Goodridge; one sister, Peggy of Thief River Falls, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Cecelia Koropatnicki. A00003B2003NV12
