Gerald Henry Konickson was born on February 19, 1939 in the log home of his parents, Henry Benhart and Alice Ruby (Arlt) Konickson, in Red Lake County. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls. Jerry attended school in St. Hilaire and graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls in 1957. In the fall of 1957, he entered the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific Theatre, Midway Island, Aleutian Islands, Japan, and the Philippine Islands before being honorably discharged in 1961.

In 1964, they returned to the family farm in River Falls Township. Jerry worked for United Parcel Service for eight years and began farming in 1972, raising small grains, hay, and livestock.

He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and the American Legion and was a former member of Fourtown/Grygla Sportsmen's Club and St. Hilaire Saints Snowmobile Club.

Jerry enjoyed fishing, bird watching, bowling in his younger years, spending time outdoors, and especially, visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Arlys of St. Hilaire; three sons, Kurt, Keith "Skeeter," and Bradley Konickson, all of St. Hilaire; two grandchildren; his mother, Alice (Vern) Cormican of Euclid; and two brothers, Wayne (Marie) of Grygla and Ron (Donna) of Thief River Falls.
