- Gladys Kolstoe, 92, formerly of Oklee, died
on Wednesday, December 4, 2002 at First Care
Medical Services in Fosston. 
Funeral
services were held on Saturday, December 7 at Salem
Lutheran Church in Oklee with Rev. Bob Paulson
officiating. Doreen Bohm was the organist and
Ericka McGeary was the soloist. Casketbearers were
Gladys' grandsons and honorary casketbearers were
Gladys' granddaughters. Interment was in Salem
Cemetery in Oklee.
Gladys
Elise Hillesland was born on June 11, 1910, the
daughter of Tomas and Anna (Hillesland) Hillesland
in Canby. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith
in Canby. When Gladys was three years old, the
family moved to Norway, where she grew up, was
confirmed and attended school. In 1938, Gladys was
united in marriage to Soren Kolstoe in Karmoy,
Norway. Later that year, Soren moved to Oklee,
where he started farming, while Gladys remained in
Norway to farm until 1947. She and her daughter,
Oline, then moved to Oklee to join Soren. The
couple continued to farm until 1973. Soren died in
1971. Gladys lived on the farm until November 2000.
She then moved to First Care Center in Fosston,
where she has since resided. Gladys was a member of
Salem Lutheran Church and was active in the Ladies
Aid. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking,
crocheting, knitting and she loved flowers. She
especially enjoyed spending time with her
family.
Survivors
include her children, Oline (Donald) Bohm of
Burnsville, John (Jane) of Oklee, Tom (Diane) of
Oklee and Susan (Mark) Kolstoe of Ridgecrest,
Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a
sister, Dina Skeie of Karmoy, Norway; a
sister-in-law; and several nieces and
nephews.
Gladys
was preceded in death by her husband, Soren, and
two brothers, Magnus and Joseph.
