Melvin
Koehnlein, 87
Greenbush
- Melvin Koehnlein, 87, died on Friday, June
27, 2003 at the Roseau Area Hospital in
Roseau.
Funeral
services were held on Monday, June 30 at United
Free Lutheran Church in Greenbush with the Rev. Ken
Hart officiating. Casketbearers were Gary, Ervin,
Jonathan and Nickolas Vacura, Ryan Gonshorowski and
Robert Nelson. Interment was in Lorenson Cemetery
in rural Strathcona.
Melvin F.
Koehnlein was born in Greenbush on May 24, 1916,
the son of Benhardt and Mabel Ida (Jacobson)
Koehnlein. He was baptized and confirmed in the
Lutheran faith and was educated in the Greenbush
area. Melvin was a life-long farmer. He loved the
outdoors and he worked as a logger for many years.
On
October 2, 1982, he married Lillian Vacura in
Greenbush.
Survivors
include his wife, Lillian; three step-sons, Arlen
Vacura, Ervin Vacura and Gary (Debby) Vacura, all
of Greenbush; one step-daughter, Mavis (Gerald)
Gonshorowski of Greenbush; eight
step-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren;
one niece and one nephew.
Melvin
was preceded in death by his first wife, Pearl; his
parents; one sister, Marie Erickson; and one
brother, Harry Koehnlein.
