Henry Knott, 87

Red Lake Falls - Henry P. Knott, 87, died Wednesday, October 11, 2001 at his rural Red Lake Falls home.

Mass of Christian burial was Knott Obit held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 15, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Tim Bushy officiating. Special music was provided by St. Joseph's Church Choir. All of Henry's grandchildren served as casketbearers. Interment was in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls with Johnson Funeral Service in charge of the arrangements.

Henry Peter Knott was born on April l, 1914 in Gervais Township, the son of Leo and Margaret (Gorres) Knott. He was raised on the family farm and attended a rural school. Henry farmed with his family for a short time before moving to Minneapolis where he painted for a number of years.

On May 15, 1940, he was united in marriage to Pauline Seeger at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls. The couple lived in Lake Pleasant Township near Red Lake Falls where they operated a dairy, beef and grain farm until retiring in 1975.

Henry was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Path-finders club, NFO, Farmers Union and the Dairy Herd Improvement Association.

He enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, driving tractor, playing cards, watching wildlife and especially, spending time with his family and his dog, Keno.

Henry is survived by his wife, Pauline Knott of Red Lake Falls; six sons, Henry (Janet) Knott Jr. of Monticello, Gary (Elizabeth) Knott of Brooklyn Park, Merle (Linda) Knott of Lincoln, Neb., Duane (Faith) Knott of Red Lake Falls, Glen Knott and Philip Knott, both of Thief River Falls; five daughters, Paulette (Terry) Busch of Reston, Va., Bonnie (Joe) Klein of Richfield, Sharon (Bob) Johnson of Thief River Falls, Marge Nichols of Klamath Falls, Ore. and Nancy Birrenkott of Casselton, N.D.; 28 grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; four siblings, Gazella Zins of Dickinson, N.D., Gertrude (Ed) Schmitz and Frank (Isabelle) Knott, both of of Red Lake Falls, and Francis Schiefert of Thief River Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Yvonne Knott; four brothers, John, Gust, Matt and Harvey; and two sisters, Dora McBroom and Elizabeth Schmitz. A00003B2001OC17
