Thief
River Falls - Ralph Klockman, 78, died on
Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in
Red Lake Falls.
Funeral
services were held on
Thursday,
July 17 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River
Falls with the Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Honorary
casketbearers were all of Ralph's grandchildren.
Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.
Ralph
C. Klockman was born in Grand Plain Township of
Marshall County on October 18, 1924, the son of
Henry Edward and Emma P. (Ptacek) Klockman. He was
baptized at home and confirmed at Mavie Lutheran
Church. He attended Mavie Grammar School and
Goodridge High School, graduating in
1942.
On
September 5, 1948, he married Lillian Lorraine
Nelson in Thief River Falls. Ralph was employed by
the Pennington County Highway Department and Arctic
Cat in Thief River Falls, Bucyrus Erie in Milwaukee
and for the Soo Line Railroad in Thief River Falls
for a short time. He also worked construction with
Bob Skoglund for a short time. In 1950, he and
Lillian purchased a farm in Silverton Township,
farming and raising their family. They resided
there until 2001.
Ralph
loved music and enjoyed playing the accordion. He
also loved to restore old cars and working with
wood, making wishing wells and bird-houses. He
especially enjoyed spending time with his
grandchildren and great-grandchild. He was a member
of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Eagles Club and
Mavie Lutheran Church, where he served as
treasurer.
Survivors
include his wife, Lillian of Thief River Falls; two
daughters, Deborah (Rick) Stenseth of Thief River
Falls and Valorie (Wayne) Schmaltz of Moorhead; one
son, Kevin (Dena) Klockman of Ogallala, Neb.; nine
grandchildren; and one
great-granddaughter.
Ralph
was preceded in death by one grandson, his parents
