Roger Kezar, 67

Thief River Falls - Roger Kezar, 67, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, N.D.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 3, 2004 at the Evangelical Free Church in Thief River Falls, with Reverend Jim Howard officiating. Casket bearers included Gary Pearson, Connie Burrell, Bromley Carr, Myron Anderson, Brian Liden, Jim Skoglund, Wayne Huseth and Mike Scheef. Interment was held at at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Roger Kezar was born June 19, 1936 in St. Paul, the son of Milton and Frances (Anderson) Kezar. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Middle River. He grew up and attended school in Middle River and graduated from high school there in 1955.

Roger entered the United States Air Force on September 23, 1955 and served his country in Korea and Japan. He was honorably discharged September 21, 1962. Following his discharge, he worked in construction in St. Paul until 1963, when he moved to Thief River Falls and began employment with Firestone Tire Co., until his retirement in 1996.

On October 19, 1957, Roger was united in marriage to Harriet Erickson in Las Vegas, NV.

Roger was a member of Evangelical Free Church, Thief River Falls and was active in church activities and did volunteer work there as well. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Minnesota Deer Hunters Association and Ducks Unlimited.

Roger enjoyed spending time at the cabin near Thief Lake, where he would do farm work and spend time hunting with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, reading and anything to do with airplanes, having over 4,000 hours in the air. Roger enjoyed visiting with people and sharing stories, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Harriet; children, Rick (Peggy) of Thief River Falls, Scott (Joleen) of Warroad, Michelle (Scott) Gratzek of Grand Forks, N.D., Ryan (Christine) of Thief River Falls and Melissa (Phil) Langowski of Hastings; six grandchildren; one brother, Randy (Renie) Kezar of Thief River Falls; mother and father-in-law, Gladys and Clarence Erickson of Thief River Falls and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Roger Erickson. A00003B2004AR07
