Kayser, 86
Thief
River Falls - Paul Kayser, 86, died Tuesday,
May 28, 2002 at First Care Nursing Home in
Fosston.
A
funeral service was held
Saturday,
June 1, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in
Thief River Falls with Rev. Gary Johnson
officiating. Ida Nordvall was the organist, and
special music was presented by Rev. Dennis Raymond.
Casketbearers were Ernest Thorsgard, John Sannes,
Clif Mattson, Tony Kozojed, Keith Pearson, and Ray
Fuller. Honorary casketbearers included members of
the Minnesota State Patrol and Paul's
grandchildren. Military honors were accorded by the
Thief River Falls American Legion and VFW posts.
Interment took place Monday, June 3, at 10 a.m. in
Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing. Green Funeral Home of
Thief River Falls was in charge of the
arrangements.
Paul
Frederick Kayser was born on August 14, 1915 at Red
Wing, the son of Joseph and Sophia (Kleist) Kayser.
He was baptized and confirmed at Christ Episcopal
Church in Red Wing. Paul graduated from Red Wing
Central High School in 1933. While serving as a
staff sergeant and radio operator during World War
II from 1943 to 1946, he was stationed in New
Guinea.
On
July 2, 1949, Paul was united in marriage to Elaine
Marie Anderson at Hudson, Wisc. The couple made
their home in Welch, near Red Wing, where Paul
worked for Red Wing Pottery. He then began working
in St. Paul and later moved to Marshall where he
worked as a dispatcher for the Minnesota State
Patrol. He also trained as a radio technician
through Cleveland Institute of Ohio and worked in
the position with the Minnesota State Patrol. He
moved to Thief River Falls where he continued
working as a dispatcher with the State Patrol until
his retirement in 1983.
Paul
was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and
Ecklund-Holmstrom American Legion Post 117 of Thief
River Falls.
He
enjoyed gardening, yard work, music, and working
with electronics.
Paul
is survived by his wife, Elaine; a daughter,
Christine (Pat) Yetter of Camas, Wash.; three sons,
Gary (Cindy) Kayser of Manistique, Mich., and Jay
(Maureen) Kayser and Casey (Colleen) Kayser, both
of Thief River Falls; seven grandchildren; and a
sister, Barbara Compton of Orlando, Fla.
Preceding
him in death were his parents; two sisters, Rose
Mealey and Gracia Kayser; and three brothers, Carl,
Art, and Bill Kayser. A00003B2002JU05
