Clara Kaushagen, 90

Thief River Falls - Clara Kaushagen, 90, died Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 2 Kaushagen obit p.m. on Friday, May 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. John Wollenzien officiating. Ida Nordvall was the organist. Casketbearers included grandsons Randy, Kevin, and Gerald Tharaldson, and great-grandsons Nicholas and Nolan Schuler and Joshua Tharaldson. Serving as honorary casketbearers were granddaughters Nicole Nelson and Cherie Sigerud, great-grandchildren Tara, Bethany, Kayla, Ashley, Katlyn, Breanna and Jacob Tharaldson and Tucker and Sawyer Nelson, and step great-grandchildren Aaron and Amanda Sigerud. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls with Green Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Clara Louina Rebecca Myers was born on April 9, 1912 in the village of Westbrook, the daughter of Peter Finley and Anna (Flor) Myers. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Goodridge on May 31, 1957. She grew up near Viking where she attended Willowdale School.

On June 24, 1931, Clara married Oscar Tharaldson. On April 29, 1958, she was united in marriage to Eli Kaushagen. She farmed in the Goodridge and Newfolden areas and also worked for Arctic Cat for four years.

Clara enjoyed working on crafts, including beadwork and embroidery, and especially enjoyed visiting and being with family.

Survivors include a son, Richard (Yvonne) Tharaldson of Goodridge; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Don (Pat) of North Bend, Wash. and Frank (Effie) of Windom; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Clara in death were her husbands; a son, Orlin Robert Tharaldson; her parents; two brothers, Bill and Charlie; and a sister, Dorothy. A00003B2002MY15
