Victor
Kaml, 84
Greenbush
- Victor Kaml, 84, died Saturday, September 29,
2001 at the Miller-Dwan Burn Center in
Duluth.
Funeral
services were held on Sunday, October 7, at Bethel
Lutheran Church in Greenbush with Rev. Kenneth
Kramer officiating. Joan Haugen was the organist,
and Jeanne Novacek was the vocalist. Casketbearers
were grandchildren Leora and Keith Harrison,
Lynette and Kyle Gustafson, Brian Berge, Colleen
and Eric Kukowski, Mary, Scott and Victor Kaml Jr.,
Tonya Kaml, Bradley Kaml, Vernon and Alice Kaml,
and Vernette Kaml. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery at
Greenbush with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush
in charge of the arrangements.
Victor
Kaml was born on April 20, 1917 in Barnett Township
of Roseau County near Greenbush, the son of Ludvig
and Agnes (Hlucny) Kaml. He grew up and attended a
country school at rural Greenbush.
On
June 28, 1947, Victor married Miranda Dvergsten.
The couple purchased his parents' farm, and in
addition to farming, Victor was employed at the
turkey plant in Greenbush and worked road
construction. After selling his dairy cattle in
1988, he continued to grain farm. Miranda died on
April 30, 2001.
Victor
served on the Barnett Township board for 24 years
and several years on the Land O'Lakes
board.
He
enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing,
gardening, square dancing and especially, spending
time with his grandchildren.
Victor
is survived by a daughter, Lois (Harvey) Berge of
Badger; two sons, Victor E. (Cathy) Kaml and Verlyn
(Julie) Kaml, both of Greenbush; 11 grandchildren;
11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Steve (Helen)
Kaml of Greenbush and Andrew (Doris) Kaml of
Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister-in-law; and many nieces,
nephews and other relatives.
He
was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a son,
Vernon Kaml; a granddaughter, KayLynn Berge; three
sisters, Julia Shimpa, Annie Penas and Katie
Shimpa; and six brothers, Ludvig, Anton, Otto, Joe,
George and Paul Kaml.
