Casketbearers were Mike LaFreniere, Aaron Bartels, Marvin Larson, Nicholas Fischer, Wilfred Kalmoe, Tracy Larson and Nathan Kalmoe. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls in charge of the arrangements.

Evelyn "Evie" Dolores Peterson was born on October 11, 1921 in Muskegon, Mich., the daughter of Einar and Hedvig (Johannsen) Peterson. She was a graduate of Muskegon High School and served her country during World War II as she worked for Continental Motors, a manufacturer of tank engines.

Evelyn attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis where she met her husband of 56 years, Rev. Clifford L. Kalmoe. Together, the couple served Lutheran parishes in Big Fork, Badger and Mott, N.D. After living in Muskegon, Mich. for eight years, the couple again served parishes in Edgerton, Wisc., Cross Plains, Wisc., Newfolden, Comstock and Thief River Falls. Evelyn accompanied her husband on many of his visits to parishioners and was very active in church circles.

She enjoyed singing, singing in church choirs throughout her lifetime and often singing soprano solos. She also enjoyed laughter and good jokes, reading and especially, visits from her friends during her years of confinement. For the past year she had resided at Oakland Park Nursing Home.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Clifford; two daughters, Karen (Nicholas) Fischer of Newark, Del. and Judy ( Marvin) Larson of Sauk Rapids; a son, David Kalmoe of Appleton, Wisc.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marion of Muskegon, Mich.; and a brother, Ragnar Peterson of Sunnyvale, Calif. A00003B2001SP26
