Thief
River Falls - Edith Kalinowski, 87, died on
Friday, March 21, 2003 at Northwest Medical
Center.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, March 25 at
Resurrection Church in Karlstad with the Rev. David
Riveness officiating. Bev Folland was the organist
and Orpha Schauffhauser was the pianist. Special
music was provided by the men's quartet of Terry
Soltvedt, Justin Dagen, Michael Hilde and Brent
Boen and also by Mitch and Michelle Steien.
Casketbearers were Brent Boen, Mike Folland, Terry
Soltvedt, Justin Dagen, Michael Hilde and Larry
Steien. Honorary casketbearers were all those who
attended the service. Interment was in Blessed
Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush.
Edith
Idella Blomquist was born on September 14, 1915,
the daughter of Conrad and Anne Blomquist, in
Pelan. She was baptized and confirmed in the
Lutheran faith. She attended grade school in Pelan
and graduated from Karlstad High School in
1933.
On May
29, 1938, Edith was united in marriage to Anton
Kalinowski. The couple farmed in Klondike Township
of Kittson County. Anton died in 1962 and Edith
continued to live on the farm until 1970, when she
moved to Karlstad, where she has since resided. She
was a member of Resurrection Church of
Karlstad.
Survivors
include one son, Paul (Kim) of Becker; three
daughters, Deanna (Gary) Washer of Huntington
Beach, Calif., Karen (Dean) Lips of Andover, and
Linda (Gabe) Kasprowicz of Karlstad; 12
grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many
nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Edith was
preceded in death by her husband, Anton; her
parents; four brothers; and six sisters.
