Warren - Alton Jorgenson, 89, died on Monday, January 26, 2004 at the North Valley Health Center in Warren.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 30, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Warren. Interment was held at Greenwood Cemetery in Warren.

Alton R. Jorgenson was born on March 9, 1914 in rural Argyle, MN, the son of George and Hannah (Myrfield) Jorgenson. He was baptized and confirmed at Alma Lutheran Church. Alton attended country school. He was in the U.S. Army during World War II from May of 1942 until November 8, 1945. He served in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe.

After his discharge, he returned home and worked for area farmers. He worked for the Soo Line Railroad from 1948 - 1951. On December 1, 1951, he married Burnett Sannes. They moved to the Iron Range for a short period of time until they moved back to the Warren area. Alton worked for the Great Northern Railroad which later became the Burlington Northern Railroad. He retired in 1979. Burnett died on January 20, 1987. He moved to the Good Samaritan Center in March of 2002.

He was a member of the Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Warren American Legion Post 27.

Alton enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include three children; Barbara (Lambert) Kostrzewski of Warren, Gary (Thuloan) Jorgenson of San Jose, Calif. and Larry (Sherryl Eckstein) Jorgenson of Thief River Falls; two grandchildren; very special friend, Zfiryna Kuznia of Warren; three brothers, Melvin (Verna) Jorgenson, George "Hillman" (Jane) Jorgenson and Vernon (Joan) Jorgenson and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; an infant granddaughter; parents; George and Hannah Jorgenson; three brothers, Oliver, Clifford and Lloyd; and an infant sister, Gladys. A00003B2004FB04
