Jorgensen, 85
Duluth
- Willie Denver Jorgensen, 85, of Duluth, died
on Saturday, July 17, 2004 at St. Luke's hospital
following a brief illness.
A
memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 22,
2004 at 1:30 p.m., at the East Duluth Church of
Christ, 4801 Cooke St., Duluth. A reception will
follow in the church basement.
Willie
Jorgensen was born near Thief River Falls, to John
C. and Emmy Jorgensen on April 9, 1919.
Willie
served in the U.S. Army from August 10, 1942
through October 28, 1945. He fought in World War II
with the 772nd Tank Destroyer Battalion and was in
the Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of Normandy.
Survivors
include two sons, Willie (Linda) Jorgensen Jr. of
Danbury, Wis. and Phillip (Patty) Jorgensen of
Rockford; three grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth Jorgensen of
Colorado Springs, Colo., John Jorgensen of Red Lake
Falls, Freddy Jorgensen of Thief River Falls and
Raymond Jorgensen of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters, Rose
of Karlstad, Myrtle of Washington state and Lillian
of Hallock; his special friend, Trudie Jennings,
plus several nieces, nephews and many friends.
He
was preceded in by his parents John C. Jorgensen
and Emmy Jorgensen, his brother Earl and sisters
Celia and Minnie.
