"Pete" Johnsrud, 78
Goodridge
- Robert "Pete" Johnsrud, 78, died on Sunday,
December 28, 2003 at his home in rural Goodridge.
Funeral
services were held on
Tuesday,
Dec. 30, at Ekelund Lutheran Church of rural
Goodridge, with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating.
Interment was held at Ekelund Cemetery.
Robert
Duane Johnsrud was born on April 26, 1925 in
Calumet, the son of Teloy and Tilla (Rindahl)
Johnsrud. He was baptized on June 7, 1925 and also
confirmed into the Lutheran faith. He attended
Country School.
Robert
worked in the iron mines in Chisholm for a few
years. On June 11, 1952, Robert was united in
marriage to Delores McEnelly at the Parsonage in
Goodridge, by Pastor Bjorgan. The couple lived in
Chisholm for a short time before returning in 1954
to Star Township, rural Goodridge, where they have
continued to reside. Robert farmed dairy and beef
and also worked construction for Earl Woods and
Sherman Knutson. Robert farmed with his son, Jerry,
for the last 20 years.
He
had a good sense of humor and enjoyed hunting and
fishing. He loved his family, especially his
grandchildren and great grandchildren and also his
dogs.
He
was a member of Ekelund Lutheran Church, where he
served on church council and he also served on the
Star Town Board.
Survivors
include his wife, Delores; four children, Jim (Kim)
Johnsrud of Goodridge, Vicki (Lyle) Austad of
Trail, Jerry (Fern) Johnsrud of Goodridge, and
Kathy Haugen and special friend, Ed Sabol of Thief
River Falls; nine grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; his mother, Tilla Johnsrud of
McIntosh; mother-in-law, Edna H. McEnelly of Thief
River Falls; sisters-in-law: Marlys (George) Parker
of Red Lake Falls, Sharon (Tim) Smith of Ramsey,
and Colleen Holen of Thief River Falls; three
aunts; special friend, Terry Haugen of Goodridge;
and numerous cousins.
He
was preceded in death by his father, Teloy;
father-in-law, Roy McEnelly; his grandparents;
brother-in-law, Mayer Holen; and several aunts,
uncles and cousins.
