River Falls - Violet "Vi" Johnson, 87, died
Saturday, October 4, 2003 at the CNC Unit of
Northwest Medical Center in Thief River
Falls. 
Funeral
services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13 at
Johnson-Green Funeral Chapel in Thief River
Falls.
Violet
Johnson was born July 25, 1916 in Devils Lake,
N.D., the daughter of Mathieu "Matt" and Tillie
(Timboe) Haugen. She was baptized into the
Methodist faith. Vi graduated Roseau High School
and also graduated from Teachers Training in
Warroad.
She
taught country school for three years and then
worked at the Roseau County Treasurer's Office,
where she was employed for 37 years.
On
March 26, 1965, Vi was united in marriage to Ernest
E. Johnson in Roseau. Since 1980, she and Ernest
wintered in Arizona. He died in 1987, and that
fall, Vi permanently made her home in Arizona. In
the spring of 2000, Vi moved to Thief River Falls,
where she has since resided with her
sister.
She
enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and
dancing.
Survivors
include step-sons, Lowell (Marsha) Johnson of
Bozeman, Mont., and Duane (Ginny) Johnson of
Vancouver, Wash.; several step-grandchildren and
step-great grandchildren; sisters, Olive Pederson
of Thief River Falls and Delores Borg of Chandler,
Ariz.; brother, Don (Martha) Haugen of Lake Havasu
City, Ariz.; and many nieces and
nephews.
She
was preceded in death by her husband Ernest and her
parents.
