- LaVerne C. Johnson, 77, died Tuesday, May 15,
2001 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River
Falls.
Funeral
services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 18, at
Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls with Rev.
Paul Knutson officiating. Casketbearers were Dennis
Sundberg, Roger Smith, Lowell Naeseth, Merle
Naeseth, John Reid and David Reid. Interment was in
Landstad Cemetery in Rollis township of Marshall
county.
LaVerne
C. Johnson was born on June 13, 1923 in
International Falls, the son of Otto and Selma
(Jornlin) Danielson Johnson. He was raised and
educated in the Grygla/Gatzke area. LaVerne worked
as a logger in various places and worked for Arnie
Engelstad farms at Gatzke and other area
farmers.
LaVerne
was united in marriage to Bertha Danielson in 1959.
She died in 1986.
He
enjoyed listening to music and playing the
accordion in a band with his parents and brother,
Guy.
LaVerne
is survived by two brothers, Stanley (Mary) Johnson
and Otto Johnson, both of Gatzke; a sister, Orva
Johnson of Thief River Falls; and several nephews
and nieces.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a
brother, Guy; and a sister, Francis Bruno.
