Gary Johnson, 61

Strathcona - Gary E. Johnson, 61, died on Monday, October 13, 2003. Funeral services were held on Friday, October 17, 2003 at Grace Evangelical Church in Gary Johnson Strathcona, with Pastor Bob Ludwig officiating.

Casket bearers included nieces and nephews: Kay Lynn Wold, Krystal McDonald, Karla Bischof, Kelly Johnson, Lori Grimmius Daryl Sumner, Paul Sumner, Karen Sumner, Cecily McGlynn, and Corey Johnson.

Interment was held at Lorenson Cemetery in Strathcona. Arrangements were with Collins Funeral Homes of Karlstad, Greenbush, & Middle River.

Gary Elwood Johnson, the son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Sands) Johnson, was born on May 18, 1942, at Greenbush. He grew to manhood in the Strathcona community, and graduated from Greenbush High School in 1960. He was employed at Polaris Industries at Roseau for over 35 years, and was a long-time member of Grace Evangelical Church of Strathcona. Gary made his home on the family farm near Strathcona until January of 2000, then moved to the Eventide Home in Roseau and to the Greenbush Nursing Home. Since March of 2002, he has resided at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center at Erskine where he passed away on Monday October 13, at the age of 61 years, 4 months, and 25 days.

He is survived by three brothers, Vayden of Greenbush, Ivan (Jeanelle) of Holt, and Haven (Sandy) of West Fargo, N. D.; one sister Sandra (Arthur) Sumner of Worthington; ten nieces and nephews; and several grand nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Vaughn and David in infancy.
