Dorothy Johnson, 82

Thief River Falls - Dorothy Johnson, 82, died Sunday, August 12, 2001 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls. Johnson Obit

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, August 17, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls with Father Tim McGee officiating. Casketbearers will be Scott Kruger, Michael Johnson, Mitchell Johnson, Earl Johnson, Earl Halfaday and Jake Stanton. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 16, with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church.

Dorothy Bernice Jansen was born on September 24, 1918 in Thief River Falls, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Herron) Jansen. She grew up and attended school in Viking.

On July 12, 1935, she married Earl O. Johnson at Thief River Falls. The couple lived in Thief River Falls. Dorothy worked at Oakland Park Nursing Home and the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center. After Earl's death on October 2, 1972, Dorothy continued to make her home on Duluth Avenue North in Thief River Falls.

She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Forrester's Guild, Eagles Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary.

Dorothy enjoyed gardening, crocheting and macrame.

Survivors include two sons, Wayne E. Johnson and Richard E. (Marlene) Johnson, both of Thief River Falls; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Ardith (Leonard) Jensen of Minneapolis; and two nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a daughter, Joan Kruger.
