Clifford Johnson, 83

Thief River Falls - Clifford Johnson, 83, formerly of Lake Bronson, died on Monday, January 13, 2003 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D. Johnson, Clifford

Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 16 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Merrill Kindall officiating. Helen Dahlstrom was the organist and a duet was sung by Laurel and Lyndon Johnson. Casketbearers were Ray Hopka, Louis Kruger, Floyd Nelson, David Langen, Wayne Langen and Ned Ladgett. Honorary casketbearers were all of Clifford's family and friends who were present at the service. Interment was in Riverview Cemetery in Lake Bronson.

Clifford Benjamin Johnson was born on March 8, 1919, the son of Enoch and Alma (Jorgenson) Johnson on the family farm in Jupiter Township. He graduated from Lake Bronson High School and went on to become a farmer. He continued farming until his retirement in 1985.

On April 14, 1951, he married Jennie Kozak in St. Louis Park. He worked several winters at the Pik-Nickolet Hotel in Minneapolis in the 1950s and 1960s. Clifford enjoyed fishing and especially liked to vacation and travel with his family. He was active in the Community Covenant Church in Lake Bronson and more recently, attended the Evangelical Covenant Church in Thief River Falls.

Survivors include his wife, Jennie of Thief River Falls; a daughter, Laura Johnson of Fergus Falls; a son, Ron (Betty) Johnson of Lake Bronson; a daughter-in-law, Irene; two granddaughters; a sister, Pearl Hottinger of LeSeuer; and a niece and a nephew.

Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Cynthia; and one sister, Emeline (Ralph) Hopkins.
