Thief
River Falls - Clara I. Johnson, 99, died on
Wednesday, July 21, at Northwest Medical Center,
CNC Unit, in Thief River Falls.
Funeral
services were held on Saturday, July 24, at
Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with
Rev. Mark Helgeland officiating. Casket bearers
included Jerol Gilbert, Jeff Gilbert, Steve
Carriere, Butch Riske, Ed Krystosek and Sherman
Gunderson. Interment was held at Greenwood Cemetery
in Thief River Falls.
Clara
Isabelle Jensen was born April 19, 1905 in Bygland,
the daughter of Soren and Carrie (Legvold) Jensen.
She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran
faith and attended rural school near Oklee.
On July
11, 1925, Clara was united in marriage to Albert
Johnson in Oklee. The couple farmed in Mayfield
Township of Pennington County, until 1962, when
they retired and moved to Thief River Falls. Clara
was a cook at Valley Home and Oakland Park Nursing
Home. She lived the last six years at Northwest
Medical Center, CNC, where she enjoyed Bingo and
special music.
Clara
enjoyed cooking and baking, but her biggest
pleasures were visits from her children,
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a
past member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Oklee
and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, since
moving to Thief River Falls. Clara was also a
member of the church circles and the Golden Age
Group.
Clara is
survived by her daughters, Ruth (Roy) Gilbert and
Linda Johnson, both of Thief River Falls, and
Kathryn (Arnold) Carriere of Fargo, N.D.; six
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one
sister, Selma Haun of Thief River Falls; one
brother-in-law; and five sisters-in-law; and
several nieces and nephews.
She was
preceded in death by her husband, Albert on
November 14, 1981; one granddaughter in infancy;
her parents; one sister, Leola Gunderson; two
brothers, Osmond Jensen, and Leonel Jensen in
