At the age of 14 years, he began working for Art Flynn driving tractor. A few years later, he worked for Frank Jeffery doing carpentry work. From 1951 until 1955, he worked for Ralph Engelstad in the cement business.
On February 26, 1966 he married Audrey Ann Holthusen in Grygla. The couple made their home in Goodridge. After leaving Goodridge in 1969, Aldon and Audrey moved to Mounds View, where he worked for Millwrights, rigging and erecting monorails and punch press machines. Aldon retired in 1970 due to a back injury. He then moved his family to Thorhult. In 1996, they moved to Thief River Falls and then back to Thorhult in 1999, where they have since resided.
Aldon enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and riding around the country with his dog. He loved the challenge of making homemade wine with anything he could imagine using. He also enjoyed his geese wandering around in his yard and buying poinsettias for his children. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in rural Grygla.
