Ardith Jaranson, 81

Bemidji - Ardith "Ardy" Jaranson, 81, died Friday, October 26, 2001 at Havenwood Care Center in Bemidji.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 29, at First Lutheran Church in Bemidji with Rev. Karin Moberg officiating. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. at Ridge Park Cemetery in Thief River Falls with Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home of Bemidji in charge of the arrangements. Honorary casketbearers were members of the "Hardee Girls Coffee Clutch" and "Ben Franklin Girls." Casketbearers were Steve Boe, Jay and Jody Kloskowski, Chris and Nicole Jaranson, and Larry Dahl.

Ardith Gulseth was born on July 30, 1920 in Thief River Falls, the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Sandsmark) Gulseth. She grew up and attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1938. She worked at Ben Franklin in Thief River Falls.

On April 18, 1946, Ardy was united in marriage to Abby Jaranson. The couple moved to Blackduck in 1947 and Bemidji in 1955. For 25 years the couple wintered in Texas.

Ardy was active at First Lutheran Church where she was a member of Mary Circle and served on the funeral committee. She also volunteered for the battered women's shelter and Beltrami County Humane Society. She was a regular attendee at the Saturday morning Hardee's Coffee Clutch and was a very active hockey grandma.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy (Terry) Beckman of St. Michaels and Cynthia Jaranson of Anchorage, Alaska; two sons, Richard (Karen) Jaranson and Stephen (Sally) Jaranson, both of Bemidji; and four grandchildren.

Ardith was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and three brothers. A00003B2001OC31
