Wilbert "Willie" Jablinske, 91

Thief River Falls - Wilbert "Willie" Jablinske, 91, died on Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Friday, September 19 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with the Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Casketbearers were Jerry Brown, Keith Bugge, Mike Keefe, Al Hugg, Chad Bjorgaard and Ron Jablinske. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Wilbert "Willie" William Jablinske was born on March 28, 1912 near Truman, the son of Rudolph Henry and Minnie Freida (Meyers) Jablinske. He was baptized at Truman and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church. He attended grade school until the fourth grade at the German School in Truman and then went to grade school at Daiseydale rural School and Oakgrove School, both in Sanders Township. At the age of 16, he moved with his parents to Thief River Falls and settled in Sanders Township.

On October 11, 1938, he married Myrtle Rude at Thief River Falls. Willie was a beekeeper for 10 years and worked for the city of Thief River Falls for 10 years in the street department. He hauled bulk milk for 22 years to Thief River Co-op and Bridgeman Creameries. He also did custodial work at Trinity Lutheran Church for five years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, but especially enjoyed doing things with his children.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle of Thief River Falls; children, Marlene Nessen of Thief River Falls, Beverly Jablinske of Thief River Falls, Katherine "Kathy" (Tom) Opdahl of Minneapolis and Roger (Deb) of Thief River Falls; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Linda Olson of Thief River Falls, Marie Peterson of East Grand Forks and Lydia (Howard) Spaars of Burlington, Wash.; and brother, Maynard (Alvina) of Lynwood, Wash.

Wilbert was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son and daughter; brothers, Alvin, Lawrence, Elroy, Adolph, Herbert and Leslie; sister, Melvina Owens; three siblings in infancy; and a son-in-law, Chet Nessen.
