River Falls - Harley Iverson, 78, died
Saturday, January 19, 2002 at his home in rural
Thief River Falls.
Funeral
services were held at 2
p.m.
on Tuesday, January 22, at St. Pauli Lutheran
Church, rural Thief River Falls, with Rev. Oliver
Auchenpaugh and Rev. Terri Cuppett officiating.
Faye Auchenpaugh was the organist, and Rev. Terri
Cuppett was the soloist. Casketbearers were Ronald
Rondorf, James Rondorf, Michael Sorteberg, Merle
Sorteberg, Herb Torstveit and David Lee. Interment
was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls with
Green Funeral Home in charge of the
arrangements.
Harley
Allen Iverson was born on March 17, 1923 in
Rocksbury Township of Pennington County, the son of
Iver H. and Anna Louise (Berg) Iverson. He was
baptized and confirmed at St. Pauli Lutheran Church
and attended Cheerville Country School. Harley
served in the United States Marine Corp from
1945-1946 and was stationed in China as a train
guard.
On
October 14, 1950, he was united in marriage to
Marie Grace Benston in Thief River Falls. The
couple had a grain and dairy farm in Smiley
Township. When they retired from farming in 1987,
the couple moved to his parents' farm in Rocksbury
Township where they had since resided.
Harley
was a member of St. Pauli Lutheran Church where he
served on the church board, was a sexton of St.
Pauli Cemetery and sang in the church choir. He was
also a member of the Eagles in Thief River
Falls.
He
enjoyed reading, stamp collecting, listening to
music and watching the deer and birds.
Harley
is survived by his wife, Marie of Thief River
Falls; a daughter, Eileen (John) Kotaska of Thief
River Falls; four sons, Gary Iverson of Thief River
Falls, Milan (Carol) Iverson of Swanton, Vt., Vinse
Iverson of Thief River Falls and Dale Iverson of
Highgate Springs, Vt.; family friend, Missy Iverson
of St. Hilaire; six grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; three sisters, Adeline Farmes
of Bemidji, Edna (Eugene) Rondorf of Thief River
Falls and Gail (Gary) Fitch of Brainerd; and
several nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; a son,
Virgil; two grandchildren, Bobby Michael and Rose
Marie; and a sister, Clara Wagner.
