Gary
Iverson, 55
Eagan
- Gary Iverson, 55, of Eagan and formerly of
Goodridge, died on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at
the Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville.
Funeral
services were held on Monday, Feb. 16 at the
Ekelund Lutheran Church in rural Goodridge with Bob
Dahlen officiating. Casket bearers included Denton
Olson, Dean Olson, Jeff Varpness, John Hammer,
Bruce Solberg and Duane Lindblom. Interment will
follow in the Ekelund Cemetery.
Gary
James Iverson was born on July 2, 1948 in Thief
River Falls, to Alfred and Clenora (Kompen)
Iverson. He was baptized and confirmed at Ekelund
Lutheran Church. Gary attended the Hazelwood
country school and Goodridge schools. He graduated
from Moorhead State University in 1970 with a
degree in accounting.
Gary
was employed by the state of Minnesota for 30
years. Since 1995 he served Metro State University
Human Resources in the area of Benefits Management
and Faculty Appointments. Gary enjoyed collecting
and restoring antiques, gardening, and music. He
had a fond interest in and appreciation for his
ancestry and cherished his Norwegian heritage. He
cared for people and touched the lives of many with
a quiet wisdom and graceful humor.
He
was a member of the Ekelund Church, St. Lucas
Church in Cottonwood, and the Sons of Norway.
Survivors
include his mother Clenora Iverson of Thief River
Falls; a brother Leslie Iverson, of Goodridge; a
close friend John Huseby of Eagen; and many, aunts,
uncles, and cousins.
He
was preceded in death by his father and
grandparents, Gust and Jennie Iverson and Gudbrand
