Beatrice Israelson, 66

Thief River Falls - Beatrice Israelson, 66, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren.

Funeral services were held at 2 Israelson Obit p.m. on Monday, May 14, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Galen Sylvester officiating. Joyce Halbasch was the organist, and a solo was performed by Wendy Blazejewski. Casketbearers were Brent Magner, Paul Magner, Eric Magner, Danny Magner, Kyle Tanner and Terry Olson. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls in charge of the arrangements.

Beatrice "Bea" Sylvia Labelle Magner was born on June 15, 1934 in New Maine township of Marshall county, the daughter of Glen and Agnes (Skadsem) Magner. She grew up on the farm and attended New Maine Country School.

In 1951, Bea was united in marriage to Ivan Melvie. The couple lived in several locations, including Grand Forks, N.D., Warren and Newfolden. The couple had two children. During her younger years, Bea worked picking potatoes in North Dakota.

In 1966, she married LaVerne Israelson. They made their home in Thief River Falls. Bea and Laverne had one son. The couple owned and operated North Woods Trapping and Hunting Supply for more than 25 years. They built a home in Smiley township and resided there until LaVerne became ill and they sold their home with Bea moving into town. Bea worked at Heritage Community Center in Thief River Falls, first as a cook and later doing the scheduling for the bus.

She was a member of the Goodridge Garden Club and was active in Al-Anon.

She enjoyed traveling.

Bea is survived by her husband, LaVerne; three sons, Gaylan (Tracy) Melvie of Newfolden and Rickey Melvie and Brian Israelson (fiance Barb Middlebrooks), both of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a sister, Opal (Gary) Tanner of Middle River; three brothers, Orlin (Joyce) Magner of Gaylord and Don (Bonnie) Magner and Orlin (Joyce) Magner, both of Newfolden; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Cecil. A00003B2000MY16
