Ione Isherwood, 83

Thief River Falls - Ione Isherwood, 83, died February 5, 2002 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at Isherwood Obit 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 8, 2002 at Re-deemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Galen Sylvester officiating. Marilyn Davidson served as the pianist, and Greg Dally was the soloist. Casketbearers were Jack Bloomquist, Tim Bloomquist, Jon Bloomquist and Elroy Frank. Ione's grandchildren, Michael and Timothy Parker, Stacy Sullivan and Jennifer Stinson, served as honorary casketbearers. Interment was in Sebeka West Cemetery in Sebeka with Rev. Mark Manning officiating graveside. Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.

Ione Marilynn June Ahlin was born on June 18, 1918 in Sebeka, the daughter of Arthur and Ruth (Backlund) Ahlin. She attended school in Sebeka, graduating from Sebeka High School in 1932. While she was a telephone operator in Sebeka, most of Ione's life revolved around the newspaper business as she worked as bookkeeper and right hand person for her husband, Mark "Pete" Isherwood, during the years they published the Sebeka Review, a family business established in 1905. She later became the women's editor of the Lake Region Press in Alexandria where she was employed until her retirement.

In Sebeka and Alexandria, Ione was active in many civic and church groups, including holding the office of president of the Sebeka American Legion Auxiliary and Trinity Lutheran Women's Auxiliary. She was also a member of Eastern Star and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls.

She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, friends and relatives and a variety of creative endeavors, especially making memorabilia boxes with her husband.

Ion is survived by two daughters, Sandra K. (Mike) Parker of Thief River Falls and Mary R. (John) Stinson of New Hope; four grandchildren; a sister, Joyce D'Amore in California; a brother, Dale Ahlin in California; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years; her parents; a brother, Bud Ahlin; and a grandson, Mark Davidson. A00003B2002FB13
