Martin
L. Hutmaker, 66

Wahpeton,
N.D. - Marlin L. Hutmaker, 66, of Wahpeton,
N.D., died Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at the
Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fargo, N.D.
Funeral
services were held on Saturday, Jan. 17, at
Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton, with Rev.
Mike Adams officiating.
Marlin
was born January 18, 1937 in Argyle, the son of
Leonard and Sadie (Rancour) Hutmaker. He grew up
living in several cities in Minnesota. He served in
the U.S. Navy from 1955 until 1959.
He
married LaVonne Cote on August 22, 1959 in Grand
Forks, ND. He enlisted in the US Air Force, serving
in Tripoli, Guam, and serving a tour in Vietnam in
1970. On June 1, 1977 he retired from the military
and attended college at Moorhead Technical
Institute. He worked for ten years at NDSCS in
refrigeration and air conditioning. He later
attended NDSCS and worked at Bigwood Electric in
Wahpeton and for the Circle of Nations, Wahpeton,
retiring due to health conditions.
Marlin
played the steel guitar in several bands in the
area. He was an inventor and had a patent on the
"Pneu-Hut". He enjoyed working with computers and
cooking.
Survivors
include his wife, LaVonne of Wahpeton; two sons and
a daughter, Keith (Nadine) of Fremont, Wis., Kevin
(Janet) of Fargo, N.D. and Kay (Ed) Kratt of Fergus
Falls; eight grandchildren, and one
great-grandchild; a sister and two brothers, Joyce
(William) Yonke of Hallock and Leo (Debbie) Olson
of Oklee and Clyde Olson of Texas.
He was
preceded in death by his parents; his daughter
Karen; and a brother Larry.
