Harry Hudson, 80

Greenbush - Harry Hudson, 80, died Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at Roseau Area Hospital in Roseau.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, at Oiland Lutheran Church, rural Greenbush, with Rev. LeRoy Flickinger officiating. Donna Graff was the organist, and the vocalist was Bill Wagner. Casketbearers were Gerald, Joel, Robert, and Larry Graff, Neil Gustafson, and Dean Shafer. Interment was in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery in Greenbush with Gieseke Funeral Chapel in charge of the arrangements.

Harry Hiram Hudson was born on June 7, 1921 in Kenmare, N.D., the son of Hiram and Rosalina (Mahnke) Hudson. As a youngster, Harry moved with his family to Roseau County. He served as a medic in Europe during World War II and after being discharged, worked as a forklift operator for Bekins Van and Storage Co. at Omaha, Neb. He also worked in the lumber industry in the Pacific Northwest.

On June 24, 1989, Harry married Florence Mercil. She died on April 20, 2001.

Harry was a member of American Legion Post 88 in Greenbush and a life member of the VFW Post at Badger. He received his high school diploma at the age of 78.

He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, gardening, attending family celebrations, and entertaining.

Harry is survived by a stepson, Bill (Kay) Allison of Cherokee, Texas; a stepdaughter, Diane (Dean) Shafer of Strathcona; several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Preceding him in death were his wife; his parents; two brothers, Richard and Arthur; and four sisters, Alice Throngard, Agnes Graff, Ethel Hudson, and a sister in infancy. A00003B2002MY15
