Elizabeth "Bunny" Howick, 83

Thief River Falls - Elizabeth "Bunny" Gertrude Howick, 83, died on Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings, Mont.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 9 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with the Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Honorary casketbearers will be grandchildren, Tamra Howick, Andrea Howick, Angela Howick, Greg Howick, Zachary Howick, Keith Blix, Eric Blix and Michael Blix. Interment will be in Park Ridge Cemetery in Norden Township of Pennington County.

Elizabeth Gertrude Dahlen was born on February 9, 1920, the daughter of Henry and Melinda Lydia (Elvesyter) Dahlen, in Thief River Falls. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. She attended Knox Elementary School and graduate from Lincoln High School in 1937. She then attended Concordia College in Moorhead for two years and the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis for one year. As a young woman, she worked at First Federal Savings and Loan for several years. During the 1960s, she worked at the local credit bureau, at Lincoln High School and retired from the State of Minnesota Vocational Rehab in the mid 1980s.

On November 23, 1944, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Howick at Trinity Lutheran Church. The couple made their home on the family farm in Norden Township and spent their entire married lives there.

Bunny was an active, lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she belonged to a number of women's groups, taught Sunday School and served in various leadership roles. She also served as a 4-H leader and belonged to the Good Cheer Club for many years. She had a number of other interests including gardening, knitting, crocheting, baking, fishing, reading and spending time with her family.

Survivors include two sons, Bruce (Claudette) of Billings, Mont., and Fred of Thief River Falls; a daughter, Sara (Jim) Blix of Thief River Falls; eight grandchildren; and one brother, Chester Dahlen of San Antonio, Texas.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four sisters, and two brothers.
