obit-Houston, Beverly PhotoThief River Falls - Beverly Houston, 74, of Thief River Falls, died on Thursday, March 4, 2004, at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 8, 2004 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Dennis Raymond officiating. Casket bearers included Jeremy Swanson, Ken Johnson, Mark Thompson, Bruce Thune, Kevin Thune and Zach Thompson. Interment was held at St. Pauli Cemetery in rural Thief River Falls.

Beverly Ann Thune was born on June 28, 1929 in Hazel, the daughter of Ole and Clara (Arneson) Thune. She was confirmed and baptized at St. Pauli Lutheran Church and attended rural school in Smiley Township.

She married Chester Swanson in 1947 and they had three children. She later married Robert Houston in 1954 and they resided in Deer River. Beverly and Robert had three children. In 1966 Beverly returned to Thief River Falls and in 1997 she moved to Skylight Apartments, where she haD since resided.

Beverly enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and flowers. She loved her dog, Pokey, and enjoyed visiting all her friends at Skylight. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always looked forward to the flowers in the spring, especially begonias and gladiolus.

Survivors include her six children: Steven (Laurel) Swanson of Thief River Falls, Duane Swanson of Piai, Hawaii, Debra (Ken) Johnson of Prescott, Ariz., Scott Houston of Thief River Falls, Karla (Mark) Thompson of Dayton, Ohio and Richard Houston of Thief River Falls; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Russell (Jane) Thune of Bismarck, N.D.; sister-in-law, Myrtle Thune of Thief River Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Clara Thune; grandparents, Henry and Marie Arneson and Peter and Gro Thune; one sister, Darlene Thune; one brother, Harvey Thune; and a great-grandson. A00003B2004MR10
