Thief
River Falls - Margaret Holt, 93, died Saturday,
October 27, 2001 a Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red
Lake Falls.
Funeral
services will be held at 2
p.m.
today (Wednesday, October 31) at Our Saviour's
Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev.
Terry Olson officiating. Wanda Vigness will be the
organist, and the soloist will be Jan Nyflot.
Casketbearers will be Mark Holt, Selvin Aase,
Melvin Aase, Sanford Foss, Allen H. Holt and Dale
Holt. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in
Thief River Falls.
Visitation
was held from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer
service at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.
Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to
today's services. Green Funeral Home of Thief River
Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
Margaret
Hoyum was born on December 9, 1907 on the family
homestead at rural Wannaska, the daughter of Rev.
John O. and Anna (Aase) Hoyum. When she was a year
old, she moved with her family to Lake Lillian.
When she was nine years old, the family moved to
Grygla. Later, they moved to rural Goodridge, and
Margaret attended Big Grove School through the
eighth grade. She was employed at various places in
Minnesota and Woodburn and Salem, Ore.
On
June 5, 1929, Margaret was united in marriage to
Gustav "Gust" Holt of Hoople, N.D. where the couple
farmed. In November of 1941, they moved to a farm
in Norden Township of Pennington County. Gust died
on April 9, 1967. Margaret was employed as a
seamstress at Narverud Cleaners in Thief River
Falls for more than 20 years.
She
enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and crossword
puzzles.
Margaret
is survived by a daughter, Gloria (Delmer) Rux of
Thief River Falls; a son, Orville (Barbara) Holt of
Thief River Falls; four sisters, Lydia Owen of
Thief River Falls; Emma Stern of Burton, Kan.,
Clara Lore of Boone, N.C. and Alfreda (Howard)
Yearout of Waukegan, Ill.; four grandchildren; and
five great-grandchildren.
She
was preceded in death by her parents and two
brothers, Martin and Edwin Hoyum.
