Luella Holen, 72

Goodridge - Luella Holen, 72, died Tuesday, December 18, 2001 at her home in rural Goodridge.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, at Holen Obit Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Margie Iverson was the organist, and Deb Farris was the soloist. Casketbearers were Mike Arreola, Robert Holen, Richard Holen, Ernest Race, Gary Iverson and Gerald O'Brien. Interment was in the Goodridge Community Cemetery in Goodridge with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls in charge of the arrangements.

Luella Mae O'Brien was born on September 16, 1929 in Stenerson Township of Beltrami County, the daughter of John and Rose (Laughery) O'Brien. She attended Fourtown School in Beltrami County, graduating on June 4, 1943. She was baptized and confirmed at Rosendahl Evangelical Lutheran parsonage on July 2, 1949.

On November 14, 1948, Luella was united in marriage to Harold Sevrin Holen in at the Rosendahl Evangelical Lutheran parsonage. Prior to her marriage, Luella worked at the Fourtown Store for several years.

She was active at her church, held several offices in its Ladies Aid and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years.

Luella enjoyed working with other women in church activities and quilting.

Survivors include her husband, Harold of Goodridge; a son, Daniel (Susan) Holen of Goodridge; a daughter, Diane Arreola of Bellevue, Neb.; a grandson; a sister-in-law; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Luella was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, George O'Brien. A00003B2001DC26
